Puppies

When we breed it is aimed at creating a greater generation of Poodles; not to fulfill the market. This means litters are typically 1-3 years apart. My job as a breeder is to ensure that my puppies are placed in the best home possible, and I take that role very seriously. Please read below to learn more about IndigoStar puppies.

I do not have a running wait list, but rather open Puppy Applications once a litter is confirmed. If you have an interest in being matched with a future IndigoStar puppy, feel free to reach out. I do not sell puppies first come first serve, but rather place the puppies to their prospective owner on a best-match basis. Building a prior relationship with me greatly increases your likelihood of matching with one of my puppies. The most important factor for me is that my puppy ends up in the best home for itself, which in turn will be the best puppy for the buyer.

Our puppies are raised with Puppy Culture. Following PC protocol, we will complete things such as modified Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Simulated Maternal Stimulation (SMS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), The Enrichment Effect, Manding, etc with all our puppies. I believe in sending puppies home with the best base I can provide them. This includes starting them with crate exposure, leash training, collar confidence (collar grabbing), and basic commands/tricks (sit, down, hand touch, spin, etc), and access to water in kiddie pools. They are exposed to novelty items daily. There are several great articles on the importance of enrichment in puppies, and I strongly believe in the importance of The Enrichment Effect after seeing it first hand. It solidifies confidence and promotes emotional stability.  Generally, grooming is started with the puppies at 3 weeks (grooming desensitization starts around 7 days old), and continues every week until they go home. I start crate training at 5-6 weeks, which is also when car rides become a regular thing. The Fabulous 8 clocked about 35 hours in the car before they were sent home. The puppies start socialization early, with things such as consistently scheduled visitors and puppy-safe outings. Some examples of outings we do include local feed stores, up elevators at local hotels, local Home Depot/Lowe’s, local farmer’s market, local park, and more. All outings and play-times are strictly monitored and planned for safe and wholesome experiences for the puppies. For their outings, they join us in a stroller or in a crate on a wagon. This allows the puppies to see, hear, and smell things while being safely off the ground and independent from us. These outings are not only great socialization for the puppies, but they are one of many ways that I evaluate their personalities.

From birth to ten weeks, we watch the puppies closely to observe personalities. Puppy Culture provides many outlets and guidelines for evaluation. Because we spend so much time with the puppies, along with local trainers socializing with them, and the Puppy Culture temperament evaluation process; I do not bring in a third party for “official” temperament testing (such as the Volhard PAT test). The PAT test is wildly dependent on how a puppy feels in that 3 minutes of time (are they hungry, full, tired, full-energy, in a fear period, etc?), that it doesn’t give a full or correct overview of the puppies personalities. Instead, I use PC and the 10 weeks of experiences to learn the puppies personalities. Along the way, we will be having respected breeders/handlers watching and examining our puppies to verify structure and temperaments. On all litters, they are structurally evaluated by a local trusted and extremely knowledgeable Breeder/Owner/Handler and performance person prior to placement. Only properly structured dogs will be placed in performance homes.

Our puppies will be sent home with their vaccine records (with first round of shots,) dewormed, OFA CAER eye exam, and our contract signed by both parties. In addition, I will send home a "swag bag" so to speak, with some gifts, a puppy leash/collar, a blanket with our scent, some puppy food, as well as a Binder with information on the puppy, pedigree, health testing, etc. I also have created an informational short book with helpful information pertaining to bringing your new puppy home and raising them, that every IndigoStar puppy owner receives.

When I give you a puppy it means I am giving you a piece of my heart, pride, and joy. That puppy is a product of many hours, days, weeks, and years of work. Of emotions, of research, and of evolution. Of hard times and of the best of times. And it is so exhausting. Breeding is a roll of the dice, but I will always give it my whole best effort. Breeding is hard, but worth it to see the lifelong successes and happiness you contributed to. I do all that I can to set my puppies up for a successful life. Following my placement, it is up to their new owner to continue on that passion.

Currently, I have a planned breeding for summer of 2024. Following that, there are no confirmed litter plans. I will be watching how Jovi matures and deciding on future plans once she has hit adulthood and finishes her health testing.

Flirt x Sam 2023

The Safranne's Flirting With Fame x Am GCH CH Horizon's You Make Me Crazy litter welcomed a robust singleton girl into the world on 3/24/23. Her puppy name was Limoncello Spritz and she was born naturally at the vet's office at a whopping 8.5 oz. Lemon was robust from birth and an uber confident and outgoing girl, who stole the hearts of everyone she met with her fire. Lemon became Lime and is now pursuing a multi-venue Performance career in CA.

The long awaited MACH2 Safranne's Shooting For the Stars x Am GCH CH Can CH Horizon's Born to Run litter was born 3/22/23.
